Price Comparisons for Hardcover Photo books

June 2, 2008

There seem to be a lot of new companies offering photo books these days and many claim to have the best prices. So I did a little comparison shopping and thought I would share the results with you.

Prices for a 40 page 12×12 hardcover book:

  • Viovio = $44.99
  • MyPicTales = $59.99
  • Snapfish/Walmart = $62.82
  • Realbooks = $67
  • Shutterfly = $84.99 (currently on sale for $67.99 )

For a 40 page 8×8 hard cover book:

  • Viovio = $24.99 (finished size is 8.5″x8.5″ making it 3/4″ larger than the other books finished size)
  • MyPicTales = $35.98
  • Snapfish/Walmart = $40.12
  • Shutterfly = $49.99 (currently on sale for 39.99)

* Realbooks doesn’t appear to offer an 8×8 hardcover.

If you know of any other places that offer 12×12 or 8×8 books in hardcover please let me know where and at what price.

  1. ooooooh, this is great information!! Thank you!

  2. You have to also take into consideration quality, customer service, cover options, print quality, return policy and shipping costs. I think Shutterfly is the best I’ve used.

  3. Oh course quality and customer service is a consideration Joe – have you actually used any of the other companies? I have – and I also know that Shutterfly makes more profit on their shipping & handling charges than they do on their products.

  4. excellent info – thanks!!

  5. Thanks for the info. Tried uploading to Viovio 4 times and the link broke right at the end (this is after 40 mins. each time). Just a heads up…

  6. If you have a big file it is usually better to do it as a zip file or a FTP upload – much quicker and less problems with losing the connection.
