Digital Scrapbooking Community Enthusiastic About New Very Affordable 12″x12″ Photobook

March 26, 2008

Raleigh, NC (PRWEB) March 26, 2008 — Viovio, an online community and creative publishing service, has responded to customer requests for an affordable 12×12 photobook. Joining the company’s existing Photo Book line-up this month are four new square format books: the much anticipated 12×12 Memory Book and two mini book brag books in 5×5 and 3.5×3.5 sizes.

“At Viovio we strive to accommodate to our creator’s needs. After numerous requests from scrapbook enthusiasts, we decided to introduce the 12×12 photobooks,” commented Connie Fowler, Co-Founder of Viovio. “Scrapbooking is a wonderfully growing industry and so many of our users are looking to meet their scrapbooking needs.”

The 12×12 is offered in a die-cut hardcover that displays a selected 4×3 digital cover image. The creator has the option to choose from 15 different cover materials in suede, linen, or leather. “Our goal is to offer our customers an extensive array of options when it comes to ‘the look’ of their photobook,” commented Fowler. Pricing is a very affordable $14.99 base cost plus 75 cents per page. So for example, a 40-page book would only cost $44.99.

In addition to the new photobooks, Viovio also streamlined the order process for the square format books. All square format books can be uploaded in the 12×12 format, and then Viovio’s software will automatically scale them to the size of book you choose at check out. So with one upload you can now order multiple sizes.

How it works:
1. Upload your pictures, individual layouts or completed PDF book to your Viovio gallery.
2. Be certain your images or pages are in the order you wish them to appear in your book and select the “order photobook” option.
3. All square sizes are found under the master page 12×12 page option.
4. Follow the steps in the bookmaker (if you have uploaded individual page layouts be sure to check the “auto crop” option.)
5. Select your cover and book size, and place your order.

  1. Yay! thanks for sharing this info. This sounds great.

  2. thanks for the enabling!

  3. Thanks for the info! I love the 3.5 size. That’s a really unusual size to find!

  4. Good to know they are now doing 12×12. Thanks!

  5. Love your blog and all you do for our community.

  6. Jane, you’re a true treaure. I could never find a tenth of the magnificent places that you do!

  7. The 5×5 books looks so cute. What great gifts… You’ve really done a great job in promoting VioVio for digi scrappers.

  8. The main company I use is Creative Memories for my photobooks since the quality is superb and the pages are sewn, not glued to the spine. The Storybook Creator software is easy and scrapbook papers and elements are beautiful. I haven’t seen that in any other company. Most of the companies are within a few dollars of CM, except for Blurb and Viovio (still waiting for the Viovio album to arrive.)

I just made a book with Blurb. I wanted to try a small softcover project to test their quality before I put tons of hours into something. I must say I was soooooooo disappointed! I chose to not make my pages in Photoshop, but do them directly in their program to see the “virgin” quality. My images are from a 10MP DSLR with each photo being about 2-3 MB each, so the input quality was fine. Their output was dark, grainy, oversaturated photos. I was floored. I’ve heard such glowing reviews that I couldn’t believe it. I contacted Blurb and they offered to remake the book for me, indicating that they can only keep prices so low by not recalibrating the printer after each book. They figured mine was one of the 3% of books that were toward the end of the run. So, they sent me another book and it was the same. What a disappointment.

I have a full Excel spreadsheet comparing companies if anyone wants.

I’ve made 3 gift books from MyPublisher (I got 2 for free–good promo!) where I inserted my Creative Memories Storybook Creator layouts into full bleed pages and they came out beautifully. Since they are in my state, I received them 2 days after placing the order. That was nice!

So, now I guess I wait to see how the VioVio book comes out for a less expensive alternative for gifts and such. Has anyone on this thread received any books yet from them?
